Western Wood Walls Revit Families

The specific wall types were created with the real thickness of each wall layer. To use the walls just add a wall to your project and select from wall types. Each wall type is set to have the correct real dimension and specific materials set to each layer. Since the layers are all set properly they will be able to just create parts from each wall to show a detailed geometry at any 3D view. The final user can adapt the family to suit their project, creating additional layers of finishing or any other need for the project, keeping this basic structure definitions.

What's in these files?

Wall Families Created
This file contains a variety of wall family types, each meticulously crafted to represent wood framing with accurate dimensions for every layer, at a lower LOD (Level of Detail) so that they will remain lean and efficient during early phase modeling. The wall families are categorized based on various parameters such as thickness, insulation, and finish. Each family type is optimized to provide preliminary data for downstream carbon estimating tools, while maintaining flexibility for customization.

This file contains 3 Wall types:

- Split insulation wall

- Double stud

- Deep stud

Reference Material
The document “Illustrated Guide R22+ Effective Walls in Residential Construction in British Columbia” was used as a reference to create these wall types as Revit families. You can find more helpful resources at www.bchousing.org.

Revit Version
The version chosen to create the content is Revit 2021. If clients or collaborators are using older versions, Revit 2021 ensures smoother file exchange and collaboration. All necessary plugins or add-ins are likely already compatible and readily available for Revit 2021. If you've already started projects in Revit 2021, sticking with it maintains consistency and avoids disruptions.

Schedules
There are two schedules created in the file, for walls and materials. They both show simple parameters as Area and Volume. Please point out if there is any further information intended to include in schedules.
