Workflow template for Panelized Wall Framing - Revit
What's in these files?
This Revit workflow helps you automatically model light-wood and panelized wall wood structures for early-phase studies. The accuracy of the modeling can help you estimate the carbon emissions when compared to other options. This is aimed for architects, designers, and manufacturers interested in using a Revit model to automate the framing of panelized wood framing. The workflow is a combination of a Dynamo script, a collection of Revit structural wood families, and scheduling information.Automated Framing & Customization
Using a Dynamo script, this workflow automates wall framing in Revit, dividing walls into individual panels and assigning each structural element unique mark values. You can customize panel gaps and lengths, and even swap opening framing options, such as using 2 or 3 LVL headers.
Scheduling & Quantities
Built-in scheduling tools allow you to track quantities and dimensions of framing elements. The schedules include all wood elements for each panel, capturing information on length, volume, and lumber type. This can be exported for carbon calculations and other early-phase studies.
Structural Depth Matching
The template aligns the framing depth with the wall's structural layer, ensuring accuracy for early-phase studies.
File Download Instructions
In the download section there are 2 type of files: the Revit 2021 template file and the Dynamo scripts one for each Revit version 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. In the Revit template welcome page you can find the instructions on how to install the Dynamo scripts.Limitations: the framing is not meant for construction. It doesn’t include engineered calculations and doesn’t replace the work of an engineer. This workflow is not meant to replace existing Revit wood framing plugins such as AGACAD and MWF by Strucsoft. It is meant for architects and professionals for early-phase studies.
